CODE OF CONDUCT

Introduction

At OpenAgriNet (OAN), we are committed to fostering an open, inclusive, and respectful community. Our mission to enable interoperable and equitable agriculture systems using Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) requires collaboration across diverse geographies, disciplines, and backgrounds.

This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected of all participants—contributors, partners, users, and stakeholders—interacting in OAN spaces, both online and offline.

Our Standards

We value contributions that create a positive environment for everyone. In particular, we expect the following behavior:

  • Be respectful and inclusive in both speech and action.

  • Respect differing viewpoints and experiences.

  • Offer constructive feedback and accept it gracefully.

  • Acknowledge the contributions of others.

  • Show empathy and consideration toward fellow participants.

Unacceptable Behavior

We do not tolerate:

  • Harassment, discrimination, or intimidation in any form.

  • Sexist, racist, or otherwise exclusionary or offensive language or imagery.

  • Personal attacks, insults, or derogatory comments.

  • Disruptive behavior or sustained interruptions.

  • Abuse of power or position.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all OAN community spaces including:

  • GitHub repositories

  • Online forums and mailing lists

  • Meetings, workshops, webinars, and in-person events

  • Any space where an individual is representing the OAN project

Reporting and Enforcement

If you experience or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it as soon as possible.

Reports will be handled sensitively and confidentially. The core team will review the incident and take appropriate action, which may include:

  • A warning to the offender

  • Temporary or permanent suspension from the community

  • Escalation to relevant authorities, if necessary
